Support Roaming in Western Balkan Countries
As per the roaming regulation in the Western Balkan countries, as of 01.07.2021, A1 mobile services users are to use roaming under special preferential terms in line with the agreement signed among the Western Balkan countries – WB6. A1 Macedonia is making available to its customers all contractual terms for using roaming in the Western Balkan countries - Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This roaming offer is valid for calls, SMS and mobile data, only when customers are staying in any of the Western Balkan countries. In the event customers are located in Macedonia and make calls or send SMS to a number in the Western Balkan countries, international calls/SMS charges apply.
Postpaid customers
- Postpaid customers will be able to use in roaming in Western Balkan countries national minutes and SMS (in their network and to other national networks) included in their respective tariff plans or in any additional bundles activated, in the same way as they do on the territory of Macedonia.
- The mobile data available to customers in the West Balkan countries will depend on the monthly fee for the tariff plan and the bundle they use.

Through the My A1 mobile app, postpaid customers will be able to check the status of their mobile data while in roaming in Western Balkan countries.

The new regulation is to apply to all mobile services, to all A1 Postpaid and A1 Prepaid customers, including any MVV tariff plans (A1 Mobile Net, A1 Internet etc.). The regulation does not apply to prepaid bundles.
The manner in which postpaid mobile customers in roaming in Western Balkan countries are charged depends on the customer’s respective tariff plan or any other additional bundle activated. Here are several examples:
Outgoing calls and SMS
Example 1: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS to all national networks (e.g. A1 Neo M+) located in roaming in any of Western Balkan countries and making call/sending SMS to Macedonia (to any network), in this case, the call/SMS is free of charge.
Example 2: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS to all national networks (e.g. A1 Neo M+) located in roaming in any of Western Balkan countries and making call/sending SMS to any Western Balkan country (to any network), in this case, the call/SMS is free of charge.
Example 3: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS to all national networks (e.g. A1 Neo M+) located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries and making call/sending SMS to other country outside Western Balkan countries (e.g. Italy), in this case the call/SMS will be charged as an international call/SMS (except if the customer has active bundle featuring calls/SMS to foreign networks).
Example 4: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS only to A1 Macedonia's network located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries making call/sending SMS to A1 Macedonia's network, in such event the call/SMS will be free of charge.
Example 5: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS only to A1 Macedonia's network located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries making call/sending SMS to Makedonski Telekom's network, in such event the call/SMS will be charged as national call/SMS.
Example 6: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS only to A1 Macedonia's network located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries making call/sending SMS to any of the Western Balkan countries (to any network), in such event the call/SMS will be charged as national call/SMS.
Example 7: A customer using tariff plan featuring unlimited talks and SMS only to A1 Macedonia's network located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries making call/sending SMS to other country outside the Western Balkan countries (e.g. Italy), in this case the call/SMS will be charged as an international call/SMS (except if the customer has active bundle featuring calls/SMS to foreign networks).
Example 8: A customer using tariff plan featuring limited talks and SMS to all national networks, located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries and has used up minutes and SMS included in the respective tariff plan, in this event, every next minute/SMS will be charged as national call/SMS.
Example 9: If an A1 customer is located in Macedonia and makes call/sends SMS to Western Balkan countries, that counts as an international call and corresponding charges apply in such case (as per the pricelist for international calls from Macedonia to Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina).
*If the customer has international minutes in their respective tariff plan or is using additional international calls bundle, such calls/SMS are integrated into the tariff plan/additional bundle.
Incoming calls and SMS
When customers are located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries, incoming calls and SMS are free of charge (the same way as customers receive incoming calls while on the territory of Macedonia).
Prepaid bundles featuring talk minutes, SMS and mobile data will not be valid in roaming in Western Balkan countries; the above will refer to all daily, weekly and monthly prepaid bundles.

Incoming calls and SMS
When customers are located in roaming in any of the Western Balkan countries incoming calls and SMS are free of charge (the same way as customers receive incoming calls while on the territory of Macedonia).
As of 01.07.2021, the Special Roaming Option is no longer valid in the Western Balkan countries. Customers who have activated or will activate this option, will no longer be able to use it and the roaming regulation for the Western Balkan countries will apply thereto. Customers having activated this service will not be required to deactivate it when entering the Western Balkan countries. Incoming calls in Western Balkan countries are free of charge.
As of 01.07.2021 calls with USSD code will no longer be available in the Western Balkan countries. Customers will no longer be able to make USSD code from these countries and the roaming regulation in the Western Balkan countries will apply thereto.
Once the included units in the tariff plans have been used up, the following charges will apply:

Once the mobile data include in all postpaid tariff plans has been used up, the access to the roaming data service will be terminated, except if customers have remaining data from another additional data bundle active.
To continue using mobile data in the Western Balkan countries, you will be required to activate new roaming data bundle A1 Roam Surf Balkan .
You can activate A1 Roam Surf Balkan bundles that feature roaming data in the Western Balkan countries. Bundles are available to all A1 Postpaid and A1 Prepaid customers and are valid for all carriers in the Western Balkan countries.
Bundles can be activated using the My A1 app or by sending SMS.
- To activate A1 Roam Surf Balkan S bundle featuring 2GB data amounting MKD 299.00, please send SMS with the text “START BALKAN S” to 140999.
- To activate A1 Roam Surf Balkan L bundle featuring 5GB data amounting MKD 499.00, please send SMS with the text “START BALKAN L” to 140999.
If you have ban on national mobile data/calls, such ban also applies to roaming, both in the Western Balkan countries and in any other part of the world. To be able to use data in roaming in Western Balkan countries, customers should deactivate the ban by sending SMS or via the My A1 app.
For the tariff plans including the A1 Net Sef option (А1 Neo, А1 Neon and А1 Business), any remaining mobile data in roaming in Western Balkan countries will not be stored in A1 Net Sef. A1 Net Sef stores only unused mobile data within the network of A1 Macedonia. Additionally, pursuant to the rules applying to the use of the A1 Net Sef service, the mobile data stored in A1 Net Sef cannot be used in the Western Balkan countries, meaning it can be used only within A1 Macedonia's network.
The night option available in the A1 Neon and А1 Neon+ tariff plans will not be available in roaming in Western Balkan countries. The option can be used exclusively within A1 Macedonia’s network. Customers using A1 Neon and А1 Neon+ tariff plans will get mobile data in roaming in Western Balkan countries as agreed in the monthly subscription for the tariff plans and bundles they use.
Unlimited national mobile data to use on social media within А1 Go Social, А1 Go Chat and А1 Go Music is not available in the Western Balkan countries and can be used only within the A1 Macedonia's network.
The quantity of mobile data that customers will get in roaming in Western Balkan countries depends on the monthly subscription for these bundles, as shown in the list.
The Geo Location Policy applies to these services, irrespective whether customers use these services based on A1 Macedonia subscription:
- HBO GO: cannot be used in roaming in Western Balkan countries based on A1 Macedonia subscription
- A1 Xplore TV: cannot be used in roaming in Western Balkan countries based on A1 Macedonia subscription
- A1 Xplore Music by Deezer: can be used in roaming in Western Balkan countries based on A1 Macedonia subscription
In roaming, calls to special services, prize-wining games, donations and VAS services are not available, except if there is an exception for a specific service clearly stated in the terms and services applicable to such service.
To eliminate any potentials for misuse, the use of roaming services based on the benefits above has been regulated based on a fair use policy, which is in line with the terms and conditions set by the Agency for Electronic Communications, and has been set forth in the General Terms and Conditions applying to using A1 Macedonia services. - Albania - Vodafone, One Telecommunications, ALBtelecom Mobile

- Bosnia and Herzegovina - BHTelekom, HT ERONET, M-Tel B&H
