The educational workshops from the program “The Internet is not just a game...Click Safe"
Skopje, 14.02.2020 - A1 Macedonia gladly announces continuation of the educational program "The Internet is not just a game...Click Safe" designed for fourth grade students. This year, unlike previous ones, the smallest members of the A1 family have the opportunity to register their class and attend workshops organized in the company's premises. Today was also the first workshop of this year's cycle for students from the primary school '11 Oktomvri, led by volunteer lecturers employed in A1 Macedonia.
"The great interest by the students, the teaching staff in the primary schools, as well as employees in A1 Macedonia the parents of fourth grade students, have encouraged us to continue with the organization and lectures on the topic of safe internet this year as well. Each parent in cooperation with the school has the opportunity to register a class or a whole generation of fourth graders for the realization of the educational workshop in the company premises. We are proud that whit this program we contribute to educating the youngest and are preparing them for the future and the digital world and reaffirms our clear commitment to invest in the community where we work and live” said Emilija Zografska, from the Corporate Communications Department of A1 Macedonia.
The purpose of the project is to educate students on how to use the Internet in a better and smarter way, how to protect themselves from potential dangers of using the Internet and social networks, as well as raising awareness of the general public about ethical and responsible behavior when using the Internet. Through various tools, programs and training, students acquire the necessary competences for their active involvement in social life in the age of digitalization. During the 60-minute lectures, the volunteers from A1 Macedonia, in an interesting and entertaining way, through practical examples and situations, presented to the children the essence of the Internet, with a particular focus on safety during use.
About the project:
- The project started in 2018 on the territory of the city of Skopje, when lectures were attended by more than 700 fourth-graders, from 28 Macedonian and Albanian classes, and more than 70 teachers, principals, pedagogues and school psychologists were actively involved.
- Due to the success and need for this type of workshops, in 2019 the project continued successfully in 12 municipalities across the country.
- Educational program "The Internet is not just a game...Click Safe" is the recipient of the "Community Relations Award", awarded by the Coordinating Body on Corporate Social Responsibility and the Ministry of Economy.
- The program is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Macedonia, with the approval of the Bureau for Development of Education. It is part of the initiative "Internet for All" of A1 Telekom Austria Group, launched in Macedonia in 2013. The program has so far covered more than 2000 students.
